AnonyFone Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how AnonyFone collects, uses, and protects information when you use the AnonyFone mobile app and related services.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information: username and login credentials (the login code is processed and stored as a secure hash on the server).
- User content: contact relationships, profile data, avatars, timeline posts, comments, reactions, and media you upload.
- Chat encryption data: for supported 1:1 chat between updated clients, message payloads and chat media attachments are end-to-end encrypted using a Signal-protocol-based implementation; the server stores encrypted message envelopes and encrypted media blobs.
- Call and signaling data: call identifiers, call status metadata, and WebRTC signaling payloads needed to establish audio/video calls.
- Push token data: Firebase Cloud Messaging token used to deliver notifications.
- Technical data: standard server logs and connection metadata (such as IP address and timestamps) required for security and service reliability.
2. Permissions Used by the App
- Microphone: for audio calls.
- Camera: for video calls and taking profile/chat images.
- Notifications: for incoming calls and message alerts.
- Network access: to connect to backend and media services.
3. How We Use Information
- To provide messaging, contact, timeline, and call features.
- To authenticate users and keep accounts secure.
- To distribute and retrieve public encryption key material (including signed pre-keys and one-time pre-keys) required for end-to-end encrypted chat sessions.
- To deliver notifications and maintain service quality.
- To diagnose, prevent, and resolve technical or security issues.
4. Third-Party Services
AnonyFone uses Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) for push notifications. We do not use advertising SDKs in the app.
5. End-to-End Encryption (E2EE) for Chat
- For supported 1:1 chat sessions between compatible clients, message payloads are encrypted on device and decrypted on recipient device using a Signal-protocol-based scheme (session/pre-key model).
- The chat implementation supports per-device key material for multi-device message delivery in compatible app versions.
- Chat media files (such as images and voice messages) are encrypted client-side before upload and decrypted client-side after download.
- The service provider does not have access to decrypted chat payload content when E2EE is active between compatible clients.
- The app may display key-change/safety-number warnings to help users detect contact identity key changes.
- This does not mean full feature parity with any specific third-party messaging application security model.
- Some metadata remains visible to the service for delivery and reliability (for example sender/receiver identifiers, timestamps, message IDs, device identifiers, and delivery/read state).
- Timeline posts, comments, reactions, contact graph data, and call signaling are not part of this E2EE chat payload protection model.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell personal data. We may share data only when required to operate the service (for example, infrastructure providers) or to comply with legal obligations.
7. Data Retention
We retain data for as long as needed to provide the service and fulfill legal or security obligations. You can request account and related data deletion by contacting us.
8. Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including transport-layer encryption (HTTPS/TLS), authentication controls, and encryption for supported chat payloads. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we continuously improve safeguards.
9. Children
The service is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal information, contact us to remove it.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material updates will be reflected on this page with a new effective date.
